When Mozambique’s civil war ended back in 1992, the main rival guerrilla forces of FRELIMO and RENAMO became rival political parties. But recently, the reconciliation process has fallen apart and power struggles to control the country’s vast natural resource wealth have intensified. Civilians are being killed or are disappearing at the hands of security forces and thousands have been forced to flee their villages.
